Hey there 👋🏼
How’s your inner monologue going?
It’s fine. It’s fine, right? Mine’s fine too, of course. Totally fine. Nothing to see here.
Except, sometimes, most of the time, there’s something lurking in the background.
There’s something we’re gnawing through, sometimes consciously, other times not.
Sometimes it’s a big thing that fully deserves our attention, other times it’s been blown way out of proportion.
So how do we begin to make sense of all this? How do we progress? How do we make peace with ourselves.
First by listening. Slowing down, to listen. Stopping, and thinking. Just like these short sentences are causing you to do now.
What’s really on your mind? What game are you really trying to win?
Often it’s a game of comparison, and many times our solution is to go into hiding. To hide what’s really going on, and project confidence and superiority.
Sometimes that’s necessary. Sometimes we need to keep our cards close to our chest.
But many times, especially when with those who genuinely care about us, we can let down our guard and be more honest with what’s weighing us down.
We all carry burdens. There are people who care for you, who would love to help carry them.
Sometimes, sharing itself is the release, and sometimes, the biggest hurdle is letting you see yourself.
Slowing down, to listen.
Stopping, and thinking.
That’s what this little experiment is about, that’s what I’m trying to do.
Hopefully by letting down my guard, you might find ways to let down yours.
If so, I’d love to hear it.
